Spotlight on Key Community Events
International Women’s Day 2025
International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, celebrated on March 8, is a significant global occasion. This year’s UN Australia theme, “March Forward,” encourages action toward gender equality. As we mark the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, Australians reflect on the progress made and the challenges that remain for gender equality. The latest report from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WEGA) reveals that for every $1 earned by men, women earn just 78 cents on average, equating to a yearly pay gap of $28,425. Notably, this disparity is exacerbated by differences in superannuation and bonuses.
CoreLogic’s 2025 Women & Property report highlights a notable gender gap in investment property ownership, with only 11.4% of women owning investment properties compared to 14.2% of men. This gap is even more pronounced among younger generations, with only 6.4% of Gen Z women owning investment properties, compared to 13.8% of their male counterparts. Despite these challenges, overall homeownership rates are relatively balanced, with 62.7% of women and 64.4% of men owning at least one residential property. This data underscores the importance of targeted initiatives to support women in overcoming barriers to property investment and achieving financial independence.
Upcoming Event: Bobbin Head Cycle Classic 30 March 2025
The Bobbin Head Classic Cycle Fundraiser, known as “The Bobbo,” is one of Sydney’s most iconic charity bike rides. Scheduled for March 30, 2025, this event offers cyclists of all levels the opportunity to ride through the beautiful Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and along the breathtaking coastal views from West Head. Starting and finishing in Turramurra, the event features various distances to suit every rider.
Lifeline is the primary beneficiary of this fundraiser, with all funds raised helping to provide vital crisis support services. Since its inception in 2012, the Bobbo has raised over $2 million, making a significant impact on mental health and other essential community services. Participants are encouraged to gather family and friends to support their ride, knowing that every dollar raised helps save lives.
The Marshall Group is proud to sponsor the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic for the third consecutive year. Visit us on the day at the Kinka Reserve rest stop in Terry Hills.
